In 1995, Pixar changed the course of animated movies with the creation of Toy Story. This film was different from everything that was made before. Since the day in which Toy Story was released, this studio has being successful and the model for any other animation studio that wants to make a good film. ¿Why made Pixar so unique and innovator?  In this essay I would try to explain the three strong points of this amazing company.

Creativity is not what people think.  For many reasons most of the people think that creativity is a gift from god, which is not for everybody and it is kind of magic. Creativity is not and act as itself is a whole process in which the mind opens to affront a whole rain of ideas. Creativity is not a single thing is a lot of abilities and develops of actions. You can buy creativity but you can accept your ideas. In Pixar one of the most important things is to accept the risk of any think you can think off. If you don´t allowed your brain to open up to an idea that can be extravagant and crazy, you are going to do the same thing every time. Most of the movie are alike because they bet to an already prove to be a successful pad, but nothing that can be risky. People in Pixar accept challenges as their way to live. If the idea feels safe it doesn´t feel like a Pixar job.

For successful results Pixar believes in communication. The people who works on this animation studio has to talk and talk and then talk. Pixar is a big team; they need to express whatever they think in order to understand each other. Your great idea could be not so great for others. People in Pixar have to present their ideas to all the members of the team and listen to whatever they think no matter how hard it is. Sometimes we fall in love so deeply with our creations that we can see the defects on it, so Pixar workers believe in hearing what others think about in other to see their ideas in an objective way. Other opinions would always help you to improve your work. People in Pixar challenge their selves. When an idea is presented to the team, the workers of Pixar would try to get the best from everybody in the studio. The best way to challenge a project is to criticize it productively. Every comment is important in order to get the best from everyone that works on a project. If you think of something and you don´t share it you can never know if it was a good idea or not.

Pixar trust on technology. Every day we wake up with a new gadget or a new technological achievement. Nowadays people demands more virtual wonders in order to amaze their selves. Is not so easy, in our time, to impact people with something new. Pixar´s team is always trying to obtain everything they can from new technologies to improve their work. Innovation in Pixar is to use technology to create world that are more believable. Technology can provide the studio new techniques to offer to the public new sensations. People like to feel whatever they are watching. Pixar is always generating new technologies that can make realistic the experience for their viewers. If you want different results you have to make different things. For Pixar, the answer to provide the public something new is to create their own technology. Pixar creates their own programs and gadgets to solve specific needs to a specific film. The workers of Pixar doesn´t wait for someone to create something new someday to bring to life their ideas. If they can think about it, so they can create whatever it needs to make it real and not just an idea.

So, Pixar has become as big as they are now, because they take the risk to believe in their selves and make an effort to prove themselves every day. They doesn´t stay still waiting for someone to resolve their needs, they make and generated whatever they need to make their dreams come true. They trust in them, they know they are a team and as a team everyone has a voice and an opinion that is important for everybody to grow as a company.  So Pixar has become a big success because they trust them as part of a team, as individuals and as creative people.

Lola rennt

Run Lola Run is a German movie wrote and directed by Tom Twyker. In 1998, this movie showed on the big screen with one conflict and three different versions of it. It is an extravagant and interesting movie that shows us how a story can be told in many different ways. Lola, the principal character played by Franka Potente, has twenty minutes to resolve the problem. Her boyfriend lost 100,000 marcos, and if he doesn´t get them back or find a way to earn them in that time he will be death. So in this essay I will try to explain which is the event that changed the story, every time Lola has to run.

There is always a part of the story that is a cartoon. From the beginning of the movie, during the credits there is an animation of Lola running. There is just one event in each one of the three parts of the movies that is a cartoon. The dog is the part of each story that is always an animation. The dog made something different every time that made Lola run faster or lost some time. In the first part the dog barked to Lola and she runs faster. In the second part, the dos bite Lola and she lost time running away from him. And in the last part she jumped over the dog without any loose of time. The dog scene made an important impact on the time Lola has to get the money. In the first part Lola gets earlier without the money and she helps Manni to get it in a robbery, then she was killed when they get out. In the second part, the dog bite her and she lost time, so every other scene is affected because she gets later to every place. And in the third part she didn´t lost any time so she is able to get on time and save her boyfriend.

The reason why the dog scene is a cartoon is that it marks the most important part of every version of how Lola resolved the conflict. The cartoon is very crazy and random, and it is the only scene that is an animation. The faces of the dog and Lola are remarked showing that it is an important moment that you should watch it carefully. The clock is showed before and after so you can see how the time has change.

There could be other events that could change the story. Lola´s father scene could change the story. Every time the scene with Lola´s father is bigger. Her father is an important fact of how she gets the money, but just one time she get it from him and her boyfriend die. The point of the movie is to save Manni not to kill him. The ambulance scene is the other scene that could connect the three parts. The ambulance is an important fact to show how Lola gets distracted but she doesn´t lost a significant amount of time with it. And the thing that happen in with the ambulance doen´t stop her for running.

The only scene in the movie with a considerable change in the time is the one with the dog. That scene changes everything and connected the three parts of the movie. The dog marked in a way how does Lola will resolve the conflict. The first one she will confront her fear, her father and her own death. The second one, the conflict collapses on her and she lost her boyfriend. And the third part she jumped the dog and solved the conflict with benefits. This is why I believe the dog us the main part of the movie.

Night on Earth

He is a flat character and a passive protagonist because he doesn´t change at all. I think he is a lost soul because he is a nice guy, very tolerant, happy and a gentleman but somehow he shows sadness and fear in his eyes. He is an emigrant who has found a new opportunity for a better life in New York, but the city is big and he doesn´t even now how to drive. He is afraid of loosing his job and get lost in the big apple. Maybe he had a difficult life in his country so he appreciates all the beauty in his new town. NY is a beautiful and magnificent city, with people totally different from the people he used to treat.He is a clown and it is his way to connect with other people and transmit his happiness and good sense of humor. Helmut said he doesn´t have a family but he admires Yoyo´s family because he wishes he could have one and don´t be alone. Helmut loves his freedom and he wants to enjoy life, we can see that because he shows that he doesn´t really care about money, he just want to do his job and be part of NY.

ROMEO + JULIET

FAVORITE CHARACTER

Talking about Romeo and Juliet is talking about the most immortal love story of all times. There are many versions of this master piece of William Shakespeare but I´m sure none of them can compare to this version. “Romeo + Juliet” translated this magical love story to the colorful decade of 1990. With the same text de director created a different story by the way he wanted to tell it. It´s hard to choose a favorite character because I actually found this story confusing and non sense but I know that there is a character that has an amazing transformation trough the story, and that is Juliet.

Juliet is the pure image of a girl becoming a woman. When the story begins we met a childish girl that is controlled by her parents.  At the end of the story Juliet became the wife of Romeo, she is not anymore a little girl and she had to take a hard decision. First, Juliet has no notion of liberty. She just lives the way her parents decided that is good for her, without asking anything about her wishes and feelings. We can see this in the movie when her mother told her that Paris is the right man for her, but she never heard what Juliet has to tell about it. When Juliet met Romeo and found in his eyes love, she started to have feelings by her own.  Maybe that’s the reason why she became in love with him, because Romeo make her realized that she has her own heart and her own emotions. In the movie we saw her crazy of love for him like a child in love with her new toy.

Juliet is the personification of the model girl of all times.  Shakespeare wrote Juliet as an ideal woman for that time, without imagine that that role model will not be transform by the time dramatically. Nowadays Juliet could be considered a good girl that obey her parents and found love in a very romantic way. I think the personality of Juliet wasn´t transform at all in the movie. Juliet is a sweet girl in the book and in the movie. Juliet is an idealistic woman that Shakespeare describes as a romantic girl. In the 90´s Juliet was still the dreamy girl that fall in love with the handsome boy. So Juliet is the classic girl of all times that is pure and full of good feelings that found love and gave herself to be with the man that she loves.

Juliet is not a flat character. She transformed by the course of the story dramatically from the sweet obedient girl to the woman that decided to fight for love. Juliet is the character that shows a clearly evolution. In a way Juliet makes the story an immortal story. Her decision made the end of the story a tragic. Her actions are what people most remember about the story, she faked her dead, Romeo took the poison because he couldn´t handle the pain of losing her, and then she killed herself. That is it, for most of the people that´s the storyline of Romeo and Juliet. Juliet is the perfect pure and innocent love that every girl dreams about. The way she fall in love make this story a dream for any girl because that was really love, a love without imperfection. In the movie there are no word just a smile and eye contact, and that is magic, and magic makes the most romantic love that any girl wishes for. Loving Romeo is the first decision that she makes by her own and the way she started to became a woman.

Juliet is the character that carried the story. Her actions make this story memorable and a dream for many girls of any decade. She lived and died for love, and became a woman loving the man of her dreams. Juliet is the only character that wasn´t transform from the book to the movie, because Juliet marked the role model of the pure love of a young woman. This is why I like her, because is the character that made this story a classic, and evolved from a girl without freedom to a strong woman that decided to fight for her love no matter what it takes.

Brad and Janet are going to visit Dr. Scott, but they had troubles with the car and find themselves lost. Looking for a phone they arrived to a castle.

Rising Action
They meet all of Frank N Furter guest while they are dancing "The Time Wrap". Then Frank N Furter introduces himself as "Sweet Transvestite" and invited Janet and Brad to the Lab. In the Lab Frank N Furter gave life to his own man, who´s called Rocky Horror and killed Eddie, who is the one that gave Rocky his brain.
Climax
While Frank N Furter had sex with Janet and Brad, Rocky escaped and Janet found him. Janet was upset because she saw her fiancée and Frank on the bed, so she seduced Rocky.
Song: "Touch-a, touch-a, touch-a, touch me".

Falling Action

Dr. Scott appeared looking for Eddie, his nephew.

The guest are served dinner when they discovered that they are eating Eddie.

Who was James Dean?

He is a legend, the favorite American rebel. He was born on February 8, 1931 in Fairmount, Indiana. He went to New York believing in his dream of being an actor. Something curious about his famous is that he only played three main roles in his career, but he had some charm. He was a sexy young rebel that became a legend because he died very young in a tragic accident, on September 1955 at age 24.  He is the only actor that had been nominated for an Academy Award post- mortem.  The love of his life killed herself, they never got married because he wasn´t good enough for her mother, but Pier (James´s girlfriend) wrote a note that said that the only man that she loved was him. So James Dean was a young man with a tragic life that lived fast and was too young to died.

My fantastic movie

Many times people don´t appreciate a romantic comedy, just because most of them have scripts that are simple and predictable. ¨Two weeks notice¨ is a romantic comedy, release in 2002. The film is about a lawyer (Lucy Kelson) and her immature boss (George Wade) and of course how they fall in love. Yes, the story and the production are not amazing but it is fun and makes me happy.  What I love about this move is that it is actually different from the general idea of the classic love story.

The story is different from the common romantic storyline. Yes they are a humble girl and a very handsome rich boy, as in many of this kind of movies. But she is problematic, she is not a girly woman, very poor dressed, and with serious problems of self-esteem. He is not a hero; he is actually a big boy, and a selfish person. They are two beautiful characters that show their defects and there are not perfect unreal persons. The main problem of the story is not the common one. Most of the movies based their stories in someone trying to separate the lovers. In this one the problem is that they seem to be so different that can even work together. Lucy and George didn´t realized they are in love until the last day they worked together.

Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant are guarantee of a good fun. Both of them are recognized comedy actors, which are well known for their performances in a long list of romantic films. Sandra is one of America´s favorite actresses of all times and Hugh is a British prince of romantic movies. Both of them are charming, sexy, and have a characteristic sense of humor. Lucy and George the main characters are very similar to them and this gave an especial touch to the movie. George is a capitalist, superficial, multi-millionaire man that doesn´t really care about others. Lucy is an idealistic lawyer that lives her life defending her believes and fighting for a better world. At the beginning of the movie, the credits show pictures of Bullock and Grant as they grew up. In those pictures you can see how similar they are to their characters. She grew up surrender by the hippie movement and he grew up among fine cars and expensive toys in England.

Against what you may believe this movie is not predictable. Yes, you can guess what is going to happen and you surely know that they are going to fall in love with each other. But you can try to guess in many lines what they are going to answer but you will fail. Many of the lines are hilarious and you never expect what they say. The script was written in a very witty way.

This movie success was based in the humor and chemistry among their main characters. The formula is simple, good actors plus a funny and crazy script and a sweet love story equals a successful movie. ¨Two weeks notice¨ is a movie that offers a good time, a lot of laughs and a breath taking love story, with a different and interesting twist. That is why I love it, just because is so simple that makes me laugh every time I watch it, and is so common that I can identify with the story.

Friendship the way I learn it

There are billions of people on Earth, and sometimes we just care about one, ourselves. But this is actually a faux, we want to believe that we care about us, that we made everything to take care of our health, and that we live our lives the best we can. But the way I see it, this is not true, not even close. We live our lives wondering what others think about us, observing what others have and we don´t, we spend more hours analyzing the actions of the people in front of us than sleeping. Not so long time ago I used to be a very lonely girl, because I had a wrong idea about friendship. I realized that the best way to avoid pain was to stay away from any kind of interaction with people that weren´t part of my family or necessary to relate with. I became a lover of internet, and my friends became just nicknames and chats. I even create a cybernetic family with persons all around the world that were improbable to meet some day. Friendship for me was just a conversation with a bunch of people talking about my favorite Tv show, that was it, nothing personal, nothing that could possible hurt me because  I wasn´t really sharing my life, just superficial thoughts and dreams about an illusion, a life that didn´t exist. But I was wrong, somehow and somewhere in time I started to share my life, my feelings, my toughs and dreams. And I get hurt by someone I called friend, someone that I traveled a long way to meet and that for almost 3 years I considered my sister. So, I get so disappointed that I promise myself not to trust again in anybody, and I closed my heart. Internet wasn´t safe, life wasn´t safe, maybe inside my mind no one could ever hurt my feelings. When my grandmother notice that I didn´t have any friend, that my books and my drawing were the only partners of my life she talked to me and said something that I could never erase from my mind. She said “You have to know that someday someone will came into your life, and that someone will became your soul, she or him won´t be necessarily your lover, that person will be just your other half. And that person or maybe those people will become your family, your support; you will live with them the best moments of your life and also the worst”. I answered that the only friend and family that I needed was her. My grandma was everything for me, and I get scared when she said “not forever, I´m old and tired”.  Someday she forgot her keys and the next year she forgot my name. She had Alz Heimer, a disease that made her forgot about everything except two things, one was the love of her life, my grandpa, and the other one was her joy and passion for music. She was the only one in my family that encouraged my dream of being an artist and not a physician. Almost two years ago when I change my career my life change completely, I meet people that now a days are the best friends that I ever have, but once again I made the terrible mistake of being afraid of get hurt and I doubt of them. Last year, my grandma past away, and it was the worst day of my life. I was in a room full of people but I never felt so lonely. My world crushed and I was standing in front of my grandma´s coffin when my mobile started ringing, it was someone I never imagine that she can be my friend but that terrible day she accompanied me in the most hurtful experience of my life. Later that day I realize that my grandma was right, now I have some friend, my other half. They are not perfect, and maybe I´m crazy but I learned that their weirdness is the most wonderful thing that ever happens to me.
